What Types of Kratom Might Work Well for You?
- August 25, 2020
When someone is new to the world of kratom, it can seem quite confusing to know which type you should choose. There are many different names and colors available, and many do not know where to begin or what type they should consider. To make things easier, you will first want to understand the naming convention and the various colors that are available to help provide a better sense of what might be right for you.
Kratom is Diverse
One of the best features of kratom is the plant’s diversity. There are different colors and strains, each of which can provide different benefits for those who take them, but they all come from the same plant. This diversity stems from factors such as when the leaves are harvested and their location. These factors, and the processing method, are also important in the naming convention.
White kratom is made using leaves that have white veins. These are simply young kratom leaves. The green-veined leaves are more mature, and the red-veined leaves are the most mature out of the three. The reason the color is important is that as the leaves age, it is believed that their alkaloid composition changes. This is the reason different colors can have different effects when taken.
The names of kratom that are available utilize the color of the kratom along with the region where it was harvested, as you will see below. White Borneo is a white kratom that comes from Borneo, for example. Additionally, certain other factors are used when naming kratom. Bentuangie kratom is simply kratom that has undergone a fermenting process and maeng da is a term that reflects the high quality of the kratom.
White Borneo kratom is made using white-veined kratom leaves, and it is harvested from Borneo. Many people enjoy this strain, although it doesn’t have the same level of popularity as some of the other options on the list. The kratom tree grows naturally on Borneo, but some farms have been created specifically to provide better cultivation of the leaves, which then go through processing.
Green Malay (or Malaysian)
Green Malay is sourced from Malaysia from kratom leaves with green veins. It has a nice, green appearance, and contains characteristics of both white and red kratom strains. This is because the green is in the middle of the spectrum. It’s more mature than white and not as mature as red. It provides it with a unique alkaloid composition. It is believed that green kratom has a high amount of mitragynine with a lower amount of 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Interestingly, even though green Malay is supposed to have been grown in Malaysia, there are some restrictions to its cultivation in that country. Some of the Green Malay that is available is grown in Indonesia instead. The composition and benefits will be the same, though.
Green Maeng Da
As mentioned, maeng da is supposed to signify that the kratom is high-quality, and it does not claim a country of origin. The strain could be from any number of locations throughout Southeast Asia, with Indonesia being a large producer.
Like the green Malay, this kratom is the “middle ground” because it can offer features from both the white and the red because of the composition of the alkaloids. It tends to be a popular option, particularly for those who want to have a certain level of quality to the kratom they are choosing.
One of the most popular strains of kratom is Red Bali. The kratom leaves are collected when the leaves are fully mature, which gives them their red-veined appearance and their unique alkaloid composition. The powder that is created has a darker and deeper appearance than the white or green.
Whereas white kratom is said to provides an enegetic aroma, the red kratom contains mitraphylline along with 7-hydroxymitragynine. These are believed to offer properties that are in the realm of a relaxing aroma. This strain comes from the island of Bali, which is part of Indonesia.
Try Several Types of Kratom
When you are first starting to take kratom, you might want to consider doing some “test driving” rather than just picking one and calling it a day. You can try a white, green, and a red, for example. Try out one for a week or so first, and then switch to another. Pay attention to how it makes you feel and any of the benefits that you note when taking it. Once you have tried several different varieties, it will be easier for you to then choose the one that works perfectly for your needs.
How is Kratom Powder Processed
To make kratom powder, which is the most common option for kratom, the leaves are first harvested. Again, depending on the type of kratom that they want to produce, they will look at the veins of the leaves to ensure they are at the right maturity. Once they have been harvested, they are dried and cured. The amount of time they are dried can vary. Longer curing times can create gold kratom, which is another popular option.
After the leaves are dry and cured, they go through a grinding process. This creates a fine powder, which can then be added to capsules or packaged and sold as a powder. The powder can be used to add to beverages, which makes it easy to take. Others might choose to buy the powder and then add it to capsules that they have bought rather than buying the prepackaged capsules.
Find the Right Manufacturer and Seller
Above are some of the most popular strains of kratom, and one or more of those might be a good solution for you. However, you cannot simply buy from just any online seller. You will want to be sure you are working with a manufacturer that takes safety, hygiene, and the purity and freshness of the kratom into consideration.
